Ducati Hypermotard Specifications
Ducati Hypermotard 2007-Current The Ducati Hypermotard concept was first unveiled in Milan 2005. Many of the parts in the engine and chassis department are shared with the Multistrada 1100 and the Hypermotard won the award for best design after the 2005 EICMA show in Milan. The Ducati Hypermotard uses the same air-cooled, twin-spark, V-twin engine as the Ducati Multistrada 1100 but has a dry clutch to save weight, but a focus on weight reduction has given the Hypermotard's chassis a 44lb advantage. With 90bhp and a dry weight of only 179kg, it’s light enough to wrestle through the sharpest bends and the handling is said to be superb. The tiny 12.4-litre tank and lack of wind protection make this is a bike more suitable for Sunday morning blasts rather than long hauls. There’s a few nice design touches such as a multifunctional LCD dash, flip-out mirrors and a neat grabrail, which doubles up as the rear brake light. But, be warned about the flip out mirrors - they are extensions of the handlebars that flip out from the hand guards on each grip. At motorway speeds these devices can fold back and in town they make the handlebars wider which can cause problems for filtering between cars. The new price of the Hypermotard is £7,750 on the road (1100S, £8,995). Similar priced bikes include the Aprilia Tuono R at £7,999; the KTM Supermoto 950 at £7,995 and the Triumph Speed Triple at £7,799.
